We're Back in the Saddle Again...

** I obviously need to work on my food photo technique.

Happy New Year!! Today we started our second half of the year. We took a month off for Christmas. What I thought would be a fun relaxing time turned out to be too long I think. I will reevaluate the time span next year. There is a lot to be said for a consistent routine. I do not care if you are sending your child off to public school or homeschooling, that first day back is a huge relief. The kids just function better when they know what will happen next. I am "patiently" waiting for my new Sonlight curriculum to arrive. It should be here tomorrow. I bit the bullet and bought the box curriculum. I know my limitations and while planning our first half of the school year was exciting this past summer, I was dreading having to figure out the rest of the year. Maybe when they are all at school age I will feel a little more eager, but for now I will give the generic box school a try. Can't wait to have that box in my hands though because we are only doing math and a supplemental reading comp while waiting its arrival.

So in the spirit of getting back into a routine I also restarted using menus4moms(which explains the random food picture above). I have become quite lazy with dinner these days and I have to be honest, lunch also. It can be a big challenge to come up with a variety of meal choices for dinner let alone throwing lunch planning into the mix. So this was our first meal of the week from the lovely free meal planner that they send you weekly. Keegan ate two plate fulls and nothing was left when he was done. I realize that my kids must have been craving the same thing. There is only so much drive thru you can take til you get burnt out. So for dinner tonight we had cheeseburger pie, cottage cheese with pineapples, and salad. It was a nice change. Check out the site I promise it takes a lot of stress off not needing to come up with your own meal plan, and they even give you are shopping list to make it that much easier.

I hope you all had a great holiday season and are looking forward to what the New Year might bring. For me it is bringing a new focus in my life. I hope to share it with you tomorrow.

I am soooo going to use that website. I get stressed knowing I have to cook. It always seems to be the same old stuff every week.
Thanks for the info and let me know when you get your box!

I love having a routine, too. We started back to school yesterday and it was soooo nice to have something structure for them to do. I'm totally going to that site. Sounds like a HUGE help. I'm in such a rut right now and I could sure use someone telling me what to make and what to shop for!
