we Survived

we just got back from our trip to PA. it was a nice visit home and Nico did great. my parents handled the surprise well since i couldn't keep it a secret before we got there. she seems like a great fit to the family. i am signing her up for COT to teach her basic manners. can't wait for her to get her stitches out from her spaying so that we can get her smelling a little better.

the kids had a wonderful time with their nonie and pappy. although as my dd gets bigger she cries when we have to leave. she sure does miss them. i hate that we live so far away. while home we went to the local farmers market and i had number 3 in his Mie Tie carrier that i made. i had two girls stop me and ask where i got it from and of course said i sewed it myself. they asked if i sold them and i could kick myself for not having my business cards for my etsy shop with me. *note to self make those asap*

boxes

so my grandparents are moving out of their house and are now down sizing. my grandma was one of the ones that began my interest in all things crafty. she would sew most of my dresses for my school dances and any coat i knew what i wanted to look like but could never find. so needless to say that after many years of living and sewing in the same house she is left with a LOT of fabric. me being on of the only girls and the only one who really enjoys and gets the whole sewing thing has become the happy owner of all of her old fabric. can you say JACKPOT!! so since visiting my parents i have been going through it all to consolidate. some is no good and the feel is awful but there are yards of fabric in there that i can only imagine what i could do with it. my brain is in overdrive. now to find a scrap swap to be involved in cause i've hit the mother load!!!!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

our BIG secret......

So without telling anyone I bought myself a dog from a local animal shelter. It was after much turmoil and after 3 1/2 years of grief over losing my best friend Saedee. She was a Siberian husky and she was my constant companion. We took her into the vet thinking she was feeling sick and could get medication and fix it. 5 hours later we were saying our goodbyes and I still get sad about it. So Sat the kids my hubby and I went to the local shelter where they confiscate exotic animals from the are. I mean they had a kangaroo!!! What are these people thinking, can you imagine them going into the local feed store and requesting some Kangaroo food?! So with no thoughts of taking any of these dogs home with us I spied a sweet girl laying calmly in a corner kennel. She never barked at the other dogs when they would pass. So I said lets take her out and see her in the run. She was sweet although she needs a bit of training. She is a 9mo old Germanshepard/lab mix. And we hope she fits well with the family. We have named her Nico.
